Open beta testing is being run by admin & mods.
I want everyone to know should this happen,
you can expect problems as with any alpha / beta release.
In the past we have only released stable releases.
I have already uploaded a alpha 1 of Ultimate Edition 2.8 x64 (built off Ubuntu Maverick Meercat 10.10),
it will be released to admin, mods and beta testers later today.
If it is decided to open the flood gates,
I will come back and drop another post expect a few days maybe a week (still have to build x86 and upload it).
How about a sneak peak…
It has been discussed with admin / mods and a majority has ruled to allow open testing of Ultimate Edition 2.8, for the first time in Ultimate Edition history.
It is not to be taken lightly.
This is an alpha release. Do not install it on a production machine.
This is being released to allow users to see new features etc.
It is not suggested to install this release unless you would like to help report bugs.
If you are going to test it, it is suggested to do so running a Live environment w/o installing it.
I repeat this is an alpha release based on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat,
it is far from stable,
you can expect to have problems. There are many known issues.
The theme etc, is not set in stone.
What do you guys think of the idea,
any comments good or bad are appreciated.
TheeMahn,
